Tuning Forks and Acupuncture Points – What’s the Connection?

When I think of Qi (pronounced chee) my mind automatically jumps to Bruce Lee, Karate Kid, Spock and his Vulcan grip and the exploits of great martial artists. I also think of Star Wars and “the Force”. All these ideas refer to the innate power or life force inherent in all living, breathing beings. It’s what animates us, gives us the power to walk, talk, think, live. When we are disconnected from our Qi or that flow gets restricted, we are no longer in “harmony” with the world around us and life becomes less zesty!

At a cellular level our body is made of cells that are “vibrating” together at a certain rate or sound frequency. And when we are dis-eased that frequency or vibrational rate goes out of tune or the rhythm / frequency gets disrupted. These blocks can come from anything, stress, accidents, trauma, diseases etc.

This is where the Ohm frequency tuning forks come into play (pun intended). We use them in combination with the ancient Chinese healing concept of Meridians. The concept of meridians can be thought of as rivers of or paths through which our Qi or life energy flows and nourishes the body. There are numerous points along these meridians where we can interact with the flow and in Acupuncture needles are used for this purpose. In our practice with the Ohm Tuning Forks we use a combination of manual pressure at the point (acupressure) with the Tuning Forks. Ohm is the ‘primordial sound’ it is the sound that was present at the beginning of creation. And in applying the forks to the body we are essentially using the conductivity of water and fluid in the body to transmit this grounding and balancing sound of Ohm to resonate within our very cells – reinstating our harmony.

Resonating with Ohm restores our rhythm and balance and can have the following positive benefits:

  • Helps to move stuck Qi from stress, illness, accidents – ie. Life

  • Opens our meridians allowing life force to nourish cells and stimulates our bodies ability to heal

  • Relieves tension and pain in muscles

  • Improves bone density

  • Improves mental clarity and can tune the mind and body to higher frequencies, expanding our spiritual connections

  • Restores circadian rhythms and improves sleep quality

  • Energizing and stimulating

  • Promotes healing of tendons and ligaments and soft tissue

  • Promotes the flow and circulation of bodily fluids such as blood and lymph

  • Improves the quality of fascial connections and the fluids that allow the easy movement of our body

  • Enhances the work of other energy therapies

  • Relieves stress and anxiety

  • Promotes deep breathing

  • Returns our balance.
